LET'S DREAM TOGETHER
So that each and every student has access to world-class 21st century teaching and learning and equitable, personalized support throughout their school day, school year, and beyond in order to acquire the knowledge, skills, and dispositions of SFUSD's Graduate Profile.
Overview
This proposal is for the creation of two promotional videos of the vision and work for the SFUSD Middle Grades Redesign project.
The videos will help to share with key stakeholders the important vision and the groundbreaking work that SFUSD is committed to in order to help realize the Vision 2025 graduate profile. One video will help fellow educators (including school board members) to gain insight on the work that is going to take place at one SFUSD middle school site in 2019-2020 and the other video will help community members (including parents and students) to understand the process and the benefits of moving toward a deeper learning model of education.
Watching these videos will help to inspire a sense of innovation and wonder as we see the process and reflection of key staff, students, and community members throughout the school year as they embark on making fundamental changes in their middle school experience.

PROJECT DETAILS
Goals
- Showcase the real work that is taking place at a local SFUSD middle school in order to inspire innovation and encourage change everywhere
- Share about the 6 core design principles that arose from initial conversations and show how those are being addressed in the redesign model
- Generate excitement and curiosity about the unlimited possibilities of applying these same changes at other SFUSD middle school sites- ultimately creating buy-in for this work to spread

My Commitment
- You get my personal passion and expertise on this project. In addition to my knowledge on the video production side of things, I also commit to be fully present and approachable in all my interactions in person and via email.
- I only take on projects that align with my core values and in telling your story I believe I am sharing a part of my own beliefs. As a former SFUSD teacher and a current middle school teacher myself, I commit to accurately representing the entire journey from a unique perspective as an educator/filmmaker.
WHAT WE OFFER
Teacher Story Teller
With the continual rise of social media, storytelling is something that many filmmakers and production companies boast about. However, nobody understands the story of the classroom like a veteran teacher who has been daily committed to the struggle of making things work for all students. As a National Board Certified Teacher in Adolescent and Young Adult Mathematics, I know that I can tell this story better than anybody else who also knows how to shoot, produce, and edit a film.
I excel in education-related filmmaking because I have such a personal understanding of the complexities of the classroom, school, and educational system as a whole.
Room 212 Productions began in the lively classroom on the second floor at Thurgood Marshall Academic High School where I brought my handcam video camera in to record students working collaboratively in groups and to use video as a resource for them to better understand the various dynamics of teamwork amongst their peers. Much like a football team studies film of their game, video was used in my classroom to analyze how we work together and the impact that our collective interactions had on individual learning.
In this same way, I believe that I can bring my knowledge, passion, and commitment to this project and achieve the goals that we've discussed for these videos.
Not only do I bring a wealth of experience in the classroom having taught for over 11 years, I also bring over 6 years of professional filmmaking experience where many individuals, companies, districts, and organizations have trusted me to capture and share their stories.

THE POWER OF VIDEO
Invest in your story
Everyone is keenly aware that in our constantly-changing culture, short-form stories in video format are incredibly helpful to say a lot in a short span of time. From scrolling Facebook posts, to double-tapping Instagram videos, and even to short-lived Snapchat stories-- video is an extremely valuable tool to showcase your message to the world.
Before reading any text, 60% of site visitors will watch a video if available. (Diode Digital)
With this in mind, I set out to produce videos that are not only visually appealing and engaging enough to watch the whole thing, but most importantly that spur the viewer to do something. To get involved. To ask questions. To wonder some more. To get to work.
Videos that I have produced for nationally-funded projects have been selected by the National Science Foundation to be viewed in world-wide video showcases and I understand that the return on investment for non-profit organizations and especially schools/districts is not measured in dollar amounts but rather in tangible improvements in student learning, joy, and future achievement.

Total Project Cost
$14,000
One Price for Everything
The proposals I create are one price. That way, there are no surprises or randomly increased costs. This cost will include all pre-production planning/correspondence, in-person production, and post-production editing/correspondence.
Final Deliverables
- The final deliverables of this project will be two overview videos 3-6 minutes in length. One video with educators as the audience and another video with community members as the audience- both will have overlapping elements that share the same information but from unique perspectives.
- In addition, I would like to include a 30-60 second version of the videos to share on various social channels. This trailer video will help to drive traffic and awareness to the full length videos.
- The files will be available in 1080 HD format and streamable for easy web viewing.
Next Steps
Let's discuss any questions you may have. From there, we can draft a contract and hopefully start shooting in April!
